I saw the bill of the 1990 “Clash of the Titans” bill this morning. Slayer, Megadeth, Testament and Suicidal Tendencies were touring Europe in that era. I still have fantastic memories to that evening, it was a blast. Soon after the success of this scène, that ruled all over the Eighties, waned. Everybody knows that Thrash Metal became less important to make place for the commercial Nirvana-clones on the one side and the more Extreme Metal on the other.

True Metal didn’t totally disappear but we hardly saw the images from before. Even the Metal pubs disappeared and the gigs and festivals became part of the commercial business. A few decades later Thrash Metal thankfully came back into the spotlights, although the popularity of the genre was never as it was before. But the good news was that the old bands became mainstream again and lots of new bands were born, in the US and in Europe. READ MORE…
