July 30 – Review by Stefan – SHOK PARIS – FULL METAL JACKET (No Remorse Records)

Founded in 1982, Cleveland-Ohio based Shok Paris launched their debut album “Go For The Throat” two years later through US label Auburn Records. As a fan of the US Metal genre, this was a revelation to me. Back in the day Shok Paris toured with greats like Savatage and Lizzy Borden, I will not forget to mention their passage through Germany where they played over the years at majestic festivals like Bang Your Head, Keep It True, Up The Hammers and Headbangers Open Air. Also these guys pleased us with two more awesome efforts entitled “Steel And Starlight” (1987) and “Concrete Killers” (1989).

These three released albums are true milestones in my life as a fan of American steel … Classic US Heavy Metal Music, I would die for back in the 80s, as we speak the admiration to this gem still running through my veins. What makes Shok Paris so special to me is in the first place the unique voice of Vic Hixx (ex-Aftershok, Banner), the stunning guitar tactics of Ken Erb and Eric Malerwald and the killer interplay of bass and drum lines ! FYI: Original drummer Bill Sabo died in 2007, he only participated on the debut album. Besides these three studio recordings, Shok Paris also recorded “Z Rock Live In Dallas 1989”, a fantastic live album through Auburn Records. Filled with all the classics, a must-have for all true US Metal worshippers ! READ MORE…
